Delhi Traffic Advisory Issued For Independence Day 2025, Check Before Going Out

Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory for Independence Day 2025, roads near Red Fort and Chhatrasal Stadium to face closures and diversions.

Independence Day 2025 celebrations in Delhi are expected to cause heavy traffic across the city. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued detailed guidelines for commuters ahead of the 79th Independence Day on Friday. 

PM Narendra Modi will deliver his address from the Red Fort, while Delhi CM Rekha Gupta will hoist the national flag at Chhatrasal Stadium. Authorities are expecting large crowds and major traffic disruptions across Delhi and nearby areas.

Red Fort Area Restrictions

Traffic around the Red Fort will face major restrictions from 4:00 am to 10:00 am. Roads that will remain closed include Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail Chowk, Lothian Road from GPO to Chatta Rail Chowk, SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk, Chandni Chowk from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT Kashmere Gate, and Outer Ring Road from ISBT Kashmere Gate to Salimgarh Bypass.

Commuters are advised to avoid Ring Road (ISBT to Rajghat), Wazirabad to ITO, Outer Ring Road Vikas Marg (ITO to Red Fort), and Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Nizamuddin Bridge to ISBT).

Goods vehicles are banned from midnight until 11:00 am. Local buses will take alternate routes, and parking near main roads is not allowed to keep traffic moving.

Chhatrasal Stadium Area Advisory

Near Chhatrasal Stadium, road diversions will begin from 6:00 am. Alternative routes include Hakikat Nagar Nala Road, Kingsway Camp Chowk, U-turn Bhama Shah Chowk, Model Town-II/III H-Point, Nanak Piau Gurudwara, and Stadium Road/GTK Road T-point. 

Roads to avoid are Mall Road, Stadium Road, Brahma Kumari Marg, Bhama Shah Road, and Old GT Karnal Road.

Traffic Rules for Nearby Areas

Nearby cities and towns will also see traffic control. In Noida, goods vehicles cannot enter Delhi from 10:00 pm on August 14 until the events finish. Use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. 

In Ghaziabad, commercial vehicles cannot enter Delhi from NH-09 (UP Gate), Dabur Tiraha, Mohan Nagar, Bhopura Border, Loni Border, and other main points from 10:00 pm on August 14.

Gurugram will have traffic restrictions from 5:00 pm on August 14 to 1:30 pm on August 15. For inter state level, use the KMP Expressway and park only in approved spots. 

Additionally, Faridabad will prohibit heavy vehicles from using the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, NH-19, Badarpur Border, Prahladpur, Surajkund, and surrounding roads from 10 on August 14 to 2:00 pm on August 15.

Public Advisory & Safety Tips

Commuters should avoid affected areas and plan their travel using alternative routes, and public transport is recommended to reduce the crowd. Visitors visiting Model Town, DU (North Campus), GTB Nagar, and Azadpur Subzi Mandi should be given extra time. 

It is important for everyone to follow traffic regulations, obey traffic officials, and drive calmly.

The Delhi Traffic Police has advised people to check websites & social media for updated traffic news. Reducing traffic problems caused by huge crowds will help make Independence Day celebrations safer and better planned.
