A fire broke out late Wednesday night in Delhi's crowded Sadar Bazar area, sending thick smoke into the sky and causing panic among residents and shopkeepers. The market, known for its dense lanes and heavy commercial activity, saw brief chaos as flames rose above nearby structures.
Firefighters acted quickly, deploying four tenders to contain the incident. Official said, no injuries have been reported and crews remain on site, securing it as they determine the cause.
A separate fire was reported earlier in the day at the Hamdard Building on Asaf Ali Road. According to the Delhi Fire Service, the fire originated in packaging material stored on the first floor. Five fire tenders were dispatched to the spot and the fire was contained within minutes.
Cooling operations continued through the afternoon to prevent re-ignition. Both incidents underscore the continuing need for stronger fire safety awareness in the capital.
