In a major security achievement, the Delhi Police Special Cell has busted an ISIS-inspired terror module and apprehended two suspects under suspicion for planning “fidayeen” (suicide) attacks. Simultaneous raids in Delhi and Bhopal foiled a possible attack in the national capital.

Who Are the Two Accused?

The two accused, both named Adnan and based in Bhopal, were said to be in the final stages of planning a terror strike. One suspect was picked up in South Delhi, and the second one was arrested in Bhopal. Authorities disclosed that the duo had received suicide mission training and were in contact with handlers associated with ISIS.

Where Was the ISIS Module Busted in Delhi?

Delhi operation was carried out in Sadiq Nagar, a densely populated residential and commercial area in South Delhi. Police officials confirmed that this area was put under surveillance based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the activities and preparations of the suspects for a high-footfall attack.

Are the Weapons, Devices Seized?

The police retrieved a large stock of arms, ammunition, and electronic components from the suspects. Initial probes suggest that these items were probably for use in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), highlighting the seriousness of the proposed attack.

Was the Delhi Police raid on ISIS Module Planned?

The raids were led by Additional Commissioner Pramod Kushwaha and ACP Lalit Mohan Negi, with various intelligence and security agencies converging. Interrogation is still in progress to track the network of the suspects, handlers, and potential accomplices in India and abroad.

Authorities suspect the module may have links with Pakistan’s ISI, working in the name of ISIS inspiration. Agencies are studying communications and other material to find out whether plans were made for further attacks overseas.
