Delhi Police have detained a crucial suspect in the firing incidents at Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada, giving investigators their first major breakthrough in the case. The arrest offers new clarity on how the attacks were planned and coordinated from overseas, raising concerns about cross-border gang networks targeting Indian public figures.
Police identified the arrested man as Bandhu Man Singh, who they say worked closely with Canada-based gangster Goldy Dhillon. Officers stated that Singh acted as an on-ground coordinator for Dhillon’s network and kept direct contact with individuals involved in the conspiracy. Police recovered a Chinese-made pistol and several cartridges from his possession during the arrest.
According to investigators, Singh played a major role in managing communication and logistics linked to the firing incidents at Kapil Sharma’s Surrey-based restaurant, Kap’s Cafe. Police believe Singh helped pass instructions to other conspirators and ensured actions on the ground matched Dhillon’s plans. His connections with overseas handlers are now under detailed examination.
Police teams are currently analysing Singh’s digital footprint, financial transactions, and call records to trace every person involved. They are also working to uncover whether the network planned to target more Indian personalities or businesses connected to Indian celebrities.
Multiple Shootings at Kapil’s Cafe in Canada
Kapil Sharma opened Kap’s cafe in July in Surrey, British Columbia. Within days of its launch, unknown shooters struck the property for the first time. The frightening incident raised alarm among locals and led to the involvement of Canadian law enforcement.
But that was only the beginning.
Two more shootings took place in the months that followed—one in August and another on October 16, with assailants repeatedly targeting the cafe from outside. The continuous attacks drew heavy public attention and sparked debates around gang-led extortion and intimidation in the region.
Kapil Sharma Speaks Out About the Shooting
Kapil Sharma recently addressed the issue during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. He shared how the repeated attacks brought unexpected attention to his restaurant.
“What I feel is that the rules there and the police perhaps don’t have the power to control (such an incident). But when our case happened, it went to the federal government, and there was a discussion in the Canadian parliament,” he said.
He added that the restaurant unexpectedly saw more customers after each firing incident.
“In fact, after every firing incident, we got a bigger opening at the cafe. So it is all ok if God is with me,” Sharma said.
Investigation Widens
Indian authorities are now coordinating with Canadian officials to understand the full scale of the network behind the shootings. Investigators are focusing on identifying the shooters, tracking the flow of instructions from abroad, and determining how deep the gang’s operations run in India and other countries.
With the arrest of Bandhu Man Singh, police believe they have taken a significant step forward, but they also expect more arrests as the probe expands. The case highlights once again how foreign-based criminal groups use intimidation tactics to build influence, and how Indian agencies are tightening their response to transnational crime.
