Delhi Police Conducts Mock Drill at Akshardham Ahead of Republic Day; Enhanced Security Measures for the Celebrations

In a proactive effort to strengthen security protocols in anticipation of Republic Day, the Delhi East District Police executed a comprehensive mock drill at Akshardham Temple, focusing on simulating a terrorist attack scenario. The exercise, strategically designed to assess the force’s preparedness for various crisis situations, aimed at fortifying overall security readiness for the upcoming national event.

The mock drill showcased a tactical approach to handling potential threats, emphasizing coordination and efficiency to ensure public safety during critical situations. The police force demonstrated its ability to respond effectively to diverse crisis scenarios, underlining their commitment to maintaining security during significant events.

Notably, the 75th Republic Day celebrations will have French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest, marking the 6th occasion of a French leader being honored at the Republic Day celebrations. This has prompted heightened security measures to ensure a seamless and secure event.

In a historic move, the Border Security Force (BSF) will feature all-women marching and brass band contingents in this year’s Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path. Led by an Assistant Commandant rank woman officer and two subordinate officers, a total of 144 women BSF constables will march down Kartavya Path on January 26, coinciding with the 75th Republic Day celebrations in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a formal invitation to President Macron to be the Chief Guest at the 75th Republic Day function. The invitation emphasized the celebration of the India-France strategic partnership and shared democratic values.

Furthermore, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2024 is set to witness the participation of 2,274 cadets from all states and Union Territories. With 907 girls participating, this year’s camp boasts the highest-ever number of girl cadets. The camp, which commenced at the Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt, on December 30, 2023, aims to provide a diverse and representative gathering, reflecting the spirit of ‘Mini India.’

These proactive security measures and arrangements underscore the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a safe and successful Republic Day celebration, with a focus on the security and well-being of participants and the public alike.
