On Monday, Delhi Police detained a government employee and his wife in connection with a sexual attack on a kid. Premoday Khakha (51) and Seema Rani (50) have been recognized as the two suspects.
“In the case of sexual assault with a minor, we have arrested two persons. One of them is Premoday Khakha, 51 years old, He is a Deputy Director in the Department of Women and Child Development of GNCT and the second accused is his wife, Seema Rani, 50 years old,” DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.
The situation is being investigated further, according to police. The Delhi government suspended the officer accused of raping a juvenile victim earlier today.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, Premoday Khakha, Assistant Director is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect,” an official order issued by Delhi Government read.
The order was issued after the official was arrested for reportedly raping his deceased friend’s minor daughter for months, resulting in her pregnancy.
On August 13, the Burari police station filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the official in accordance with multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the rigorous Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the Delhi Police, the Delhi government official allegedly sexually harassed, physically abused, and repeatedly raped the juvenile victim between 2020 and 2021.
