“All railway officials and security personnel deployed at these stations are on high alert with strict security arrangements,” declared a senior Northern Railway official, outlining the heightened state of security across the National Capital Region. This urgent response was triggered by the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, which killed eight people and sent shockwaves through the city, prompting an immediate fortification of critical infrastructure.

Why Are Railway Stations on High Alert?

Hours after the devastating blast, security has been intensified at all major railway stations across Delhi-NCR. The move is a preventative measure aimed at thwarting any potential follow-up incidents. To strengthen the security network, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are closely collaborating. The objective is to enhance vigilance and conduct rigorous checks while attempting to minimize disruption for the thousands of passengers relying on the rail network daily.

Besides deploying more staff, officials have added special security teams. Dog squads are now inspecting baggage and patrolling the stations.
