Delhi High Court was evacuated and court proceedings suspended on Friday following an email promising a bomb explosion within the complex. Security officials promptly cordoned off the location while bomb teams made a sweep through.
The mail, which was sent by an individual introducing himself as Vijay Sharma to promote RG Arun Bhardwaj, threatened explosions within the court complex. “As a sample, today’s blast in your Delhi High Court will eliminate the doubt of past bluffs. Judge Chamber will explode shortly after the midday Islamic Prayers,” the mail said.

The threat also mentioned a few individuals and terror connections. It stated, “A clever and vibrant young Shia Muslim by the name Dr. Shah Faesal has managed to form connections with the Pakistan ISI cells in Coimbatore to replicate the 1998 blasts today in Patna.” The mail also mentioned political claims and threatened acid attacks, and made claims of infiltration in police ranks.
The court officials mentioned that after the security personnel asked, the majority of the courtrooms were evacuated after the alert. The police and intelligence organizations began a full-scale inquiry. Preliminary searches did not result in the discovery of any explosives, but the officials are taking the threat seriously.
The officials are trying to track the origin of the email. Proceedings will resume at 2:30 pm.
