Delhi Min shares anti-pollution strategy with India News

The Delhi government has launched a Green War against the pollution that occurs every year during the winter in Delhi. Delhi’s Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, exclusively discussed the operational and organizational aspects of this Green War Room.
He mentioned that, to combat the escalating pollution levels during the winter season, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unveiled a comprehensive 15-point winter campaign action plan on September 29.
While talking to India News, Gopal Rai mentioned that the Green War Room will be responsible for monitoring both stubble burning incidents and the Air Quality Index (AQI) across the country using satellite technology. Additionally, discussions are in progress with the Punjab government concerning the problem of stubble burning. The Punjab government is also implementing measures to curb stubble burning.
This action plan has been devised with input from various departments to tackle pollution from various sources such as dust, vehicles, crop stubble burning, fireworks, and construction activities, and it includes the establishment of the Green War Room.
The Green War Room has begun operating round the clock, starting today. A Green App has been launched to facilitate public interaction with this initiative. Through this app, individuals can report pollution-related issues directly to the control room. Once complaints are received by the control room, they are forwarded to the relevant departments for resolution. The Green War Room is particularly focused on monitoring the 13 identified pollution hotspots in Delhi. So far, the progress of the War Room’s efforts has been quite encouraging.

The War Room will reveal the performance of the responsible departments in addressing pollution issues on the field. People have played a significant role in reducing over 30% of pollution in Delhi. Only 31% of the pollution in Delhi is generated locally, while the majority originates from external sources. “I urge the citizens of Delhi to download the Green App”, Gopal Rai said.
