A Delhi Police constable was taken into custody after allegedly causing the death of a 58-year-old pedestrian in a road accident at Bhikaji Cama Place in the national capital on Monday morning. Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Sarojini Nagar Police Station rushed to the scene and discovered the victim’s body along with the vehicle involved in the accident.
The mishap occurred near Gate Number 2 of the Bhikaji Cama Place Metro Station. The deceased, identified as Baijnath, hailed from Trilokpuri in East Delhi. The crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team conducted a thorough examination of the site and collected necessary samples. The constable, who was driving the vehicle, was stationed at Rajinder Nagar Police Station in Delhi.
The accused constable has been arrested, and a case under IPC Section 279/304-A has been registered against him at Sarojini Nagar Police Station. Delhi Police stated that the case is under further investigation.
