The plea with regard to the bail of Arvind Kejriwal has been dismissed by the Delhi high court. While undertaking dismissal of the interim bail in all criminal cases it also imposed the cost of Rs.75,000 on the petitioner.
While announcing its verdict, the court said “this court cannot grant extraordinary interim bail in a pending criminal case initiated against a person holding high office. Court said that someone is in custody by virtue of the judicial order of the court. The challenge is presently before the Supreme Court. He is taking steps and using remedies. Law is equal for anyone’.
Kejriwal was arrested on 21st March 2024 by the enforcement directorate alleging that he was key conspirator in the money laundering case in relation to Delhi excise policy case. Till today, he’s in judicial custody since 1st April 2024.
