Delhi Excise Case: Delhi Court Gives Interim Bail To Businessman Amit Arora

The Delhi court has recently given bail interim bail to the director of Gurugram-based Buddy Retail Pvt Limited, Amit Arora in a money-laundering case involving excise policy for two weeks.

As per special judge for ED and CBI matters, Kaveri Baweja observed, that according to June 6 order, the accused wife has surgery scheduled. Thus, requiring him to care of her.

Also, the judge noted the senior advocate Vikas Pahwa’s submissions, declaring, that accused wife father has already passed away and the mother along with her two brothers are residents of Bengaluru and London, UK.

Further, the judge also observed, that no family member, cousin lives in the house nor visits petitioner’s home to look after his children and wife.

The extended family cannot fill husband’s /father’s absence and look after family members added judge.

‘Having considered the submissions made and ongoing through the record of the case, including the medical documents of the wife of the applicant, the medical condition of his two children, as discussed above and considering the fact that there is no other person either in the family of the applicant or of his wife who could provide the requisite post operative care and support, the application under consideration is allowed,’ said judge.

Later, the judge granted the bail on personal bond of ₹two lakhs with surety of like amount.

The judge also kept the condition, that the accused shall not leave Delhi NCR until it is necessary for wife’s treatment.

In addition, the judge also directed the accused to not destroy case evidence nor influence any witness or even attempt for that matter.

Lastly, shouldn’t indulge in offence of any nature nor abuse the interim bail given to him.

During the proceedings, Pahwa also stated, that Arora was granted interim bail for similar reasons, and there were no allegations of misuse of this relief.

‘There is no allegation that he misused the relief. He appeared before the ED whenever he was asked to.’ said Pahwa to court.

Why Was Amit Arora Arrested?

Businessman Amit Arora was arrested by ED under Prevention of Money Laundering Act on November 29, 2022.

As per CBI, Arora enjoyed close association with Manish Sisodia, and they were actively engaged in ‘managing and diverting’ the illegal money collected from liquor licensees.
