Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made his first visit to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office on Sunday, following his release from Tihar Jail on Friday night. This visit marks his return to political activities after spending time in custody.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann noted that despite the challenges faced, Kejriwal managed to keep the party united from jail. Mann praised the resilience of both Kejriwal and the party workers, stating that other parties might have faltered under similar pressures.
On Saturday, Kejriwal met with senior party leaders to discuss various matters, including upcoming assembly elections in Haryana and organizational strategies within Delhi. AAP leaders revealed that Kejriwal will actively campaign in Haryana, where the party is contesting all 90 assembly seats.
The meeting, which took place at the residence of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, was attended by key AAP figures such as Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai. Following his release, Kejriwal conducted a roadshow from Chandgiram Akhara to his official residence.
Kejriwal’s release came after the Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with a corruption case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. The court ruled that continued incarceration would constitute an unjust deprivation of liberty. Conditions for his release include refraining from making public comments about the case and attending all trial court hearings, unless exempted.
Upon his release, Kejriwal was greeted by a large group of supporters who celebrated outside Tihar Jail and his residence with fireworks.
