Delhi BJP Protest Urging Arvind Kejriwal’s Resignation

In the heart of Delhi, a significant demonstration unfolded as BJP workers rallied near the AAP headquarters on DDU Marg, driven by mounting  accusations surrounding an alleged excise scam, and calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Tensions soared during the event, prompting police intervention using water cannons to deter BJP activists attempting to breach barricades.

Notable figures within the Delhi BJP party, including party president Virendra Sachdeva and Ramvir Singh Bidhur, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, were prominently present. Kapil Mishra, a vocal BJP leader, and Shazia Ilmi, known for her political activism, also made their presence felt at the protest site.

In a conversation with ANI, Kapil Mishra emphasized the recent harsh remarks delivered by the High Court against Chief Minister Kejriwal, intensifying the call for his immediate resignation.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra said, “The kind of statement the High Court made yesterday, never before such remark was made against any CM by any court…After that Arvind Kejriwal should leave the chair; the High Court said that he (Arvind Kejriwal) is involved in corruption and also stated that by hiding behind the CM’s position, he wanted to escape from the probe which cannot happen…”

Expressing similar sentiment, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri highlighted the challenges of governing amidst legal turmoil, asserting that effective governance cannot be maintained under such circumstances.

Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said, “Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal should resign from the position of CM, a government cannot be run from jail as the protocols of jail do not allow that. If Arvind Kejriwal does not accord his resignation letter, then the law will take its own course.”

Subsequently, a Delhi court dismissed his petition seeking an increase in the frequency of legal meetings, dealing another blow to the embattled Chief Minister.
