NEW DELHI: Marking one year in office, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta unveiled a comprehensive performance report, describing the past twelve months as a “deeply transformative year” focused on modernization, transparency, and sustainable governance.

While interacting with media Gupta said the Delhi Vidhan Sabha is entering a new phase defined by innovation and accountability. “As we complete one year in office, we are steering the Delhi Vidhan Sabha toward a new era of modernization through landmark initiatives that will redefine transparency and sustainable governance,” he said, adding that the milestone represents not just the passage of time but a foundational shift in the institution’s functioning. Having taken charge on 24 February 2025, he noted that the year has laid the basis for a more accessible, technology-driven, and environmentally conscious legislature.

Highlighting the achievement Speaker said, during this period was the transition to a completely paperless system through the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA). The first fully digital session, conducted on 4 August 2025, marked a significant milestone, replacing traditional paperwork with secure digital processes and improving efficiency and transparency in legislative work.

On the sustainability front, the Assembly commissioned a 500-kW watt rooftop solar power project, becoming the first legislature in the country to operate entirely on solar energy.

The initiative has helped reduce carbon emissions and is projected to save approximately Rs 1.75 crore annually. Building further on this commitment, the Speaker announced plans to increase solar capacity by an additional 300 KW and expand green cover within the Assembly complex from 20 percent to 40 percent.
