As 2025 comes to an end, managing your financial plans becomes key. December brings 13 bank holidays, though the actual dates change from one state to another. This patchwork of holidays reflects India’s cultural and regional variety.

Why Do Bank Holidays Vary?

The system isn’t random. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, bank holidays are formally set. The RBI provides a national calendar, but state governments can declare holidays for local festivals and historic or cultural events. This keeps regional traditions intact, giving each state its own holiday schedule.

The Complete December 2025 Bank Holiday List

For easy planning, here is a comprehensive, state-wise list of all the days banks will be closed in December 2025. Remember, all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month are automatically bank holidays across the entire country.
