A horrific road accident in Rajasthan’s Dausa district claimed 10 lives, including seven children and three women. Several others suffered serious injuries in the crash. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when a pickup van rammed a parked truck on the Manoharpur Highway.

The tragedy occurred near Bapi village at approximately 4 am. The pickup van was carrying devotees returning from Salasar Balaji. Officials said the devotees had also visited Khatu Shyam before the journey.

Police confirmed that the victims were residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district. They had been travelling in two pickup vans. While one vehicle moved ahead, the other collided with a trailer parked on the roadside.

The van was carrying a dozen passengers and was overcrowded.

Casualties and Medical Response

Many passengers were trapped inside from the impact of the crash. Locals and police quickly rushed to help. The injured were first taken to Dausa District Hospital. However, 10 victims succumbed to their injuries there.

Nine critically injured devotees were later shifted to Jaipur’s SMS Hospital for advanced treatment. Authorities moved the bodies of the deceased to the mortuary.

Sagar Rana, Superintendent of Police, Dausa, confirmed the death toll. “The accident took place on Manoharpur Highway, in which at least 10 people have died,” he said. “The victims were said to be returning after offering prayers at Khatu Shyam. Some of the injured have been referred to SMS Hospital,” he added.

Investigation into the Cause of the Crash

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial findings suggest that the driver of the pickup van may not have noticed the parked trailer in the dark. Officials are also checking whether fatigue played a role in the crash, as the devotees had been travelling overnight.

Condolences from the Chief Minister

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the incident. “The news of the loss of life in a horrific road accident in Dausa is extremely tragic. The district administration has been directed to ensure prompt and proper treatment for the injured. May God grant a place at his divine feet to the departed souls and provide speedy recovery to the injured,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Frequent Accidents on Rajasthan Highways

The Manoharpur Highway has seen multiple accidents in recent years. Residents say poor visibility at night and high traffic volumes often contribute to collisions. Authorities have urged drivers to avoid speeding and to stay alert on long night journeys.

Police have assured that further details will be released after completing the investigation.
