Cyclone Biparjoy interrupts train services in Rajasthan

According to officials, a number of trains in Rajasthan have been cancelled due to the cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which has created a riot in the State. Biparjoy, a cyclonic storm, has had an impact on train travel in the Gujarati regions of Kutch and Saurashtra. Railways stated on Monday that numerous trains have been cancelled due to passenger safety. The storm, according to Sunday’s statement from Rajasthan’s minister of railways Ashwini Vaishnav, has uprooted tracks at five different locations. He claimed that Railways had successfully redirected passenger trains on the route. In a tweet, he added, “Work is underway on a war footing to rebuild the tracks.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Captain Shashi Kiran, stated that several trains were cancelled “in light of Cyclone Biparjoy.” There were three expresses involved in this: the Jodhpur-Bhildi (04841), Bhildi-Jodhpur (04842), and the Jodhpur-Palanpur (14893).

At 0830 IST on June 19, 2023, the MeT department tweeted that “yesterday’s depression over central parts of South Rajasthan & neighbourhood weakened into a Well marked Low Pressure Area over central parts of Northeast Rajasthan & neighbourhood.”

Cyclone Biparjoy caused the Anasagar Lake near Ajmer, Rajasthan, to flood on Monday following a period of intense rain. As a result, the city experienced severe waterlogging and flood-like conditions in a number of locations.
Moreover, after 24 hours of intense rain in the city under the effect of Biparjoy on Sunday, the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer was flooded. The orthopaedic ward, ophthalmology department, outdoor ward, X-ray room, and pharmacy were all flooded by rain, which was quite inconvenient for hospital staff.
