CRS App For Birth And Death Registration Launched By Centre | WATCH

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a new mobile application, the Civil Registration System (CRS), aimed at streamlining the registration process for births and deaths. The app was launched on Tuesday and developed by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India. It is designed to enhance efficiency and accessibility for citizens.

Enhancing Digital Governance

In a post on X, Shah emphasized that the CRS app aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Digital India, integrating technology with governance. “The Civil Registration System mobile application will allow citizens to register anytime, anywhere, and in their state’s official language, significantly reducing the time required for registration,” he stated.

Features of the CRS App

The CRS app offers a user-friendly interface, facilitating digital certificate delivery and online digitization of legacy records. Importantly, Shah assured that the app’s operation and maintenance would not impose additional financial burdens on states.

How the App Works

  1. Download and Login: Registrars can download the CRS app from the Google Play Store and log in using their user ID and password.
  2. Verification: After completing a captcha, an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number for verification.
  3. Registration Process: The home screen displays options for births and deaths. To register a birth, registrars select “Birth” and enter the necessary details, including the child’s date of birth and family information. The process for registering a death follows a similar structure.
  4. Certificate Generation: Upon completing the payment process, the required certificate is generated and can be downloaded directly from the app.

With the introduction of the CRS app, the government aims to make birth and death registrations more accessible and efficient for citizens across the country.
