On Tuesday, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated a thorough inquiry into one of its personnel, who was arrested on charges of molesting two women at Kolkata railway station. According to a CRPF statement, the incident occurred during the de-induction of the force unit at Chitpur railway station.
The CRPF mentioned that the matter is currently under investigation by the state police, and the force is examining the claim, assuring that appropriate legal action will be taken.
“The alleged incident took place during the de-induction of the force component at Chitpur railway station. The CRPF is investigating the allegation, and Kolkata police are also probing the matter. Legal action will be taken as warranted,” reads the CRPF statement.
The statement followed the arrest of a CRPF jawan on Monday for allegedly molesting two women in Chitpur. The jawan, who had just completed election duty in Baruipur within the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, arrived at Kolkata railway station on Sunday night to board a special train.
According to the allegations, the jawan entered a nearby house on Sunday night and allegedly molested two sisters who were sleeping inside. The sisters subsequently filed an FIR at the Chitpur police station, leading to the jawan’s arrest.
