Controversy Erupts After Ram Vilas Paswan’s Plaque Found Over Drain At Bihar College Hostel

A video from Bihar’s Hajipur has sparked outrage, showing a plaque with the name of late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan being used to cover a drain. This plaque, which belongs to the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), marks the inauguration of a hostel by Paswan in 2007, during his tenure as the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers. The stone slab was reportedly covering a gutter inside the institute’s women’s hostel after its original cover broke.

Chirag Paswan, Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and current Union Minister representing Hajipur in the Lok Sabha, condemned the act, calling it “extremely unfortunate.” He stated on X that he had instructed the plaque be restored to a “respectable place,” emphasizing, “I cannot tolerate the insult of my leader under any circumstances, and whoever is found guilty in this incident, action will be taken against him at all costs.”

Ram Vilas Paswan’s younger brother, Pashupati Kumar Paras, also expressed his anger, demanding an FIR and punishment for those responsible. He credited his brother for establishing CIPET in Hajipur and lamented the disrespect shown to his legacy.

Chirag Paswan recently won the Hajipur seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, succeeding his uncle Pashupati Paras.
