Congress slams BJP’s accusations of poor governance

Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra has refuted the BJP’s attempts to discredit the Rajasthan government, dismissing accusations of escalating crime, corruption, and poor governance as election-year tactics.
He made these statements at a press conference, expressing confidence that the BJP’s efforts would not succeed.
Dotasra pointed out that BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president JP Nadda, frequently criticise the Congress-led Rajasthan government without addressing their own unfulfilled promises. Topics such as demonetization, farmers’ income, farm laws, and corruption eradication were mentioned as areas where the BJP has not provided satisfactory answers.
“I challenge the BJP leaders to compare the election manifesto of the Centre and the previous state (BJP) government,” Dotasra said, claiming that the current Congress government has fulfilled 94% of its promises, compared to a mere 9% by the previous BJP government. He also boasted of Rajasthan’s anti-corruption efforts, stating that 1,935 actions had been taken against corrupt bureaucrats and employees between 2019 and 2023.
In response to allegations about exam paper leaks, Dotasra argued that these issues were proliferating under BJP’s rule, while the Congress has taken strict actions, including arresting a Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member. He also mentioned an upcoming law aimed at severely punishing those involved in such leaks.
Dotasra criticised Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, accusing him of attempting to tarnish Rajasthan’s reputation by alleging corruption in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Finally, advocating for farmer’s rights, Dotasra demanded that the Centre waive off farmers’ loans from nationalised banks “like it did for industries”, stating that the state government has already cleared loans taken from cooperative banks.
