Congress replaces Kamal Nath with Jitu Patwari as party’s MP unit chief

In the aftermath of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls’ disappointing outcome for the Congress, the party took a significant step by replacing Kamal Nath as the state unit chief. Jitu Patwari was appointed to take over the leadership reins in Nath’s stead. This pivotal decision followed the Congress’ failure to unseat the BJP government in the state.
Nath’s resignation was prompted by the electoral setback, marking a crucial transition within the party. Upon meeting with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Nath submitted his resignation, leading to the official announcement of Patwari’s immediate appointment as the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president.
Acknowledging Nath’s contributions, an official communication from the party expressed gratitude toward the outgoing PCC president. Additionally, the party’s decision extended to the appointment of Umang Singhar as the CLP (Congress Legislative Party) leader and Hemant Katare as the deputy leader of Madhya Pradesh. The reshuffling at the state leadership level within the Congress aimed to reinvigorate the party’s approach following the electoral setback. This move underscored the party’s commitment to strategic changes and new leadership as it aimed to reposition itself and strengthen its position in Madhya Pradesh’s political landscape.
