Congress names Kharge, Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka as star campaigners in Assam, Keralam, Puducherry

With assembly elections in Assam, Keralam and Puducherry less than two weeks away, the Congress on Friday named the star campaigners with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi among the top campaigners. 

The Congress on Friday named 40-member star campaigners for Assam, Keralam, and Puducherry. 

Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi have been named as star campaigners along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party general secretary organization KC Venugopal, finding their place in the two states and one union territory. 

For Assam, party has also named all three chief ministers Siddaramaiah, A. Revanth Reddy, and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, former chief ministers Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar; and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. 

Party has named several other senior leaders as well as star campaigners in Assam that includes Syed Naseer Hussain, Gaurav Gogoi, Kanhaiya Kumar, Deepender Singh Hooda, Imran Pratapgarhi, and others. 

Similarly, the party has also named Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy along with Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar as star campaigners. 

Beside them, the party has named veteran party leader AK Antony, state in charge Deepa Dasmunshi, Mukul Wasnik, Sachin Pilot , VD Sateeshan, Shashi Tharoor, K Sudhakaran, K Suresh, Ramesh Chennithala, Sunny Joseph, KJ George, Mohammad Azaharuddin, Imran Pratapgarhi and others. 

In Puducherry, party has named TS Singh Deo, Girish Chodankar, former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, Nivedith Alva, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy Shivakumar, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, his deputy Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Uttar Kumar Reddy, Dinesh Gundu Rao, and others. 

Polling for 126-seat assembly in Assam, 140 seats in Keralam, and the 30-member assembly in Puducherry is scheduled on April 9. 

Counting of votes will take place on May 4. 

Congress-led UDF is looking to wrest power from the LDF in Keralam, while in Assam, Congress has been looking to gain its footing in Assam, where it is taking on the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP in the northeastern state. In Pudicherry, Congress is contesting in alliance with the DMK.
