Congress leader Ram Lal Thakur thanks Himachal CM Sukhu for restoring streams in Naina Devi Ji, Jukhala colleges

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 30 (ANI): Former Minister and senior Congress Party leader Ram Lal Thakur called on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday and thanked him for restoring the Commerce stream in Government College Naina Devi Ji in Bilaspur district to enable the students to pursue their studies in these streams nearer to their homes.

Congress leader Ram Lal Thakur expressed gratitude to the Himachal government for restoring the Commerce Faculty at Government College Naina Devi ji in Bilaspur district and the Science and Commerce Faculties at Government College Jukhala.

The Chief Minister said that the present state government remains committed to providing quality education to the youth of the state closer to their homes.

He said that the government has accorded top priority to the education sector and due to the pragmatic steps of the present government, the state has reached the fifth position in providing quality education to students, which had slipped to 21st rank during the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime.

Taking on X, CM Sukhu said that the state government is continuously taking meaningful and public-interest decisions in the field of education.

“Today, former minister and senior Congress leader Shri Ram Lal Thakur ji met cordially and expressed gratitude to the state government for restoring the Commerce Faculty at Government College Naina Devi ji in Bilaspur district and the Science and Commerce Faculties at Government College Jukhala. Ensuring that every youth of the state has access to quality, accessible, and opportunity-rich higher education near their homes is among the top priorities of the state government. With this resolve, our government is continuously taking meaningful and public-interest decisions in the field of education,” the post read.

Earlier on June 28, Sukhu visited the remote tribal region of Bara Bhangal in Kangra district to assess the damage caused by recent natural calamities. He interacted with the local residents and listened to their concerns and grievances and directed the officers to ensure the timely redressal.

The Chief Minister inspected the flood-affected areas and reviewed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. Stressing the need to expedite road connectivity to Bara Bhangal, he directed officials to invite separate tenders for each kilometre of the proposed road to accelerate construction. (ANI)
