NEW DELHI: After the scandal of Rs 7 crore allegedly taken in exchange for a ticket for the Haryana elections escalated, the Congress has tasked one of its Haryana MPs with pacifying the accusers. Sources indicate that the MP has even attempted to placate the accusers, promising to return some money and take care of the situation, but things don’t seem to be working out. The image of Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is being most severely damaged by his own close associates. His sister Priyanka Gandhi’s personal secretary was previously accused of a serious land scam, leading to his removal.
Following the exposure of land scams from Himachal Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi intervened and removed Priyanka’s personal secretary, Sandeep Singh. The name of a secretary-in-charge of Uttar Pradesh also came up in the case. Now, Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal’s personal secretary Anas and other leaders have put the party in trouble. The way this money transaction matter is going viral on social media has affected the image of the entire Gandhi family.
The BJP raised this issue and asked direct questions to the Congress, but no response has been received yet. Sources say that after being embarrassed, Venugopal has asked the MP son of the former Haryana CM to resolve the matter. Sources say that money transactions were also done through UPI and cheque, said to be missing since this matter came to light. Efforts are being made to suppress the matter somehow. Congress believed they would easily win the Haryana Assembly elections. Consequently, most members of Rahul Gandhi’s core team, including Venugopal, assigned full responsibility to former Chief Minister Bhupendra Hooda and his son Deepender Hooda. Hooda was made the face. This was Congress’s strategic mistake.
The election once again became a Jat versus Others contest.
Along with the upper castes, Yadavs, Dalits, and other castes voted against Congress. Furthermore, in some seats, even Jats voted for the BJP. Even before the results were announced, Congress realized they were losing.
