In a shocking case that has outraged the public, two lecturers and their friend were arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly raping a college student repeatedly and threatening her with explicit content and compromising photographs.

The accused persons, Narendra, a lecturer in Physics; Sandeep, a lecturer in Biology; and their friend Anoop, are affiliated with a private college in the city. The survivor, a student of the same institution, filed the nightmarish experience with the police after sharing it with her parents.

As per the police complaint, Narendra initially came in contact with the student on the pretext of sharing study notes. He gained her confidence over time by frequent interaction in text messages. He subsequently called her to the house of Anoop, where he raped her and intimidated her into silence, saying that she would face "serious repercussions" if she told anyone about the incident.

Second Assault Supported by Blackmail

A couple of days later, Sandeep also approached the girl. After she didn't succumb to his advances, he reportedly blackmailed her, stating that he had photos and videos of her with Narendra. Posing as a threat by holding this over her, Sandeep too reportedly raped her at Anoop's place.

The matter worsened further when Anoop, having let the earlier attacks happen in his room, threatened the student with CCTV video capturing her visiting his home. He then also allegedly sexually attacked her, adding to the trauma that she had already experienced.

Survivor Seeks Justice After Telling Parents

The student only broke her silence over the serial attacks when her parents came to meet her in Bengaluru. Based on her statement, the family approached the Karnataka State Women's Commission and lodged a formal complaint with the Marathahalli Police Station.

Police have detained all three accused and presented them in court. The investigation is still underway.

This case has fueled widespread demands for tougher action against sexual predators in schools and more robust support systems for sexual violence survivors.
