Col Anshu Jamwal Becomes First Woman Officer To Head Air defense Unit

Pushing women empowerment to greater heights, Colonel Anshu Jamwal belonging to union territory J&k, becomes first woman officer to head air defense regiment of Indian army.

Who Is Colonel Anshu Jamwal?

Colonel Anshu Jamwal comes from Rahya village from Jammu. She was officially appointed from Officers Training academy Chennai on March 18, 2006.

Later, she acquired the job of an instructor at OTA Chennai and AD college. Subsequently, she was also appointed with UN peacekeeping force as a military observer in MONUSCO.

After coming back to India, she was transferred to army headquarters and now has been entrusted with a crucial responsibility to head the active air defense regiment of the Indian army.

Expressing pride for his daughter, Shri Bir Singh talking to TNN said,

‘We are Happy that our daughter will command an air defense regiment and she has become the first woman to do so.’

Moreover, he also revealed, that they wanted her to become a teacher, but she had something different in mind. Thus, he decided to support her dreams.

In addition, he also said, that he is proud of this fact, that his daughter has worked in difficult regions of the country including Leh.
