In a joint operation on Sunday, Delhi Police and Gujarat Police seized 518 kg of cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore from a pharmaceutical company in Ankleshwar, Gujarat. The drugs were recovered from Avkar Drugs Limited Company during a search operation, marking one of the largest drug hauls in recent weeks.
This operation follows two other major cocaine busts earlier this month. On October 10, Delhi Police seized 200 kg of cocaine worth ₹2,000 crore from a shop in West Delhi. The drugs were cleverly hidden inside snack packets labeled “Tasty Treat” and “Chatpata Mixture.” Just days before that, on October 2, more than 560 kg of cocaine worth ₹5,620 crore was seized from a godown in Mahipalpur, South Delhi, along with 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana.
The investigations into these seizures have led to multiple arrests across the country, including individuals from Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar, and Chennai. Among those arrested, Tushar Goyal, allegedly connected to political leaders, sparked controversy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah publicly condemned the Congress for Goyal’s alleged involvement, accusing them of putting India’s youth at risk.
As these drug busts continue, the government’s “zero-tolerance” policy towards drugs is underlined. The recent seizures emphasize the ongoing efforts to dismantle large-scale drug networks operating in India.
