CM Stalin Urges Finance Commission’s Recommendations to Meet States’ Expectations

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin met with the 16th Finance Commission at the Secretariat on Monday, welcoming the commission’s chairman and members. In his address, CM Stalin emphasized that the recommendations made by the Finance Commission should meet the expectations of all states and play a vital role in transforming India into a developed nation.

“On behalf of Tamil Nadu and its people, I am pleased to welcome the 16th Finance Commission Chairman and members. I believe the commission’s recommendations should meet the expectations of all Indian states and contribute significantly to India’s development. These recommendations should also strengthen India’s federal structure,” CM Stalin stated.

In related developments, a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence was held in Chennai on Saturday to review the Indian Coast Guard’s (ICG) role in ensuring coastal security along India’s extensive maritime borders. The meeting was chaired by MP Radha Mohan Singh and attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the ICG, led by Director General S Paramesh. The discussion covered the ICG’s operational capabilities, strategic initiatives, and its ongoing efforts to safeguard the nation’s maritime security.

On November 9, the Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 23 fishermen from Rameswaram along with two mechanized fishing boats, and on November 12, another fishing boat and 12 fishermen were detained.
