CM Performs Bhoomi Poojan of Ambala’s first domestic airport

The Chief Minister unveiled plans for a terminal to be constructed on a 20-acre site, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 20.50 crore. He highlighted the expeditious progress expected, as the runway and essential infrastructure are already in place.

Manohar Lal further highlighted the significance of having a civil airport in Ambala, emphasizing the benefits it would bring to the region. He also discussed the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme initiated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, which aims to make air travel accessible to all, including those wearing slippers.

Ambala is expected to be one of the first beneficiaries of the UDAN scheme in Haryana, with the government having applied for routes under the program, he said..The Chief Minister informed that approvals for multiple routes, including Dehradun, Lucknow, Amritsar, Jaipur, and Shimla, are anticipated shortly, promising enhanced convenience to the residents of Ambala and its adjoining districts. Manohar Lal also extended his warmest congratulations to the residents on the occasion of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti and emphasized the imminent inauguration of Maharaja Agrasen International Airport in Hisar.

The Chief Minister also talked about the remarkable strides Haryana has made in the aviation sector, despite the state’s initial lack of any airports. He attributed this growth to the proximity of Gurugram to Delhi’s airport, which has spurred substantial development. Jevra Airport is set to further contribute to this progress, with a considerable positive impact expected on the Faridabad district and the broader region’s development.

He said that the Chandigarh airport, of which 50 percent belongs to Haryana, is also utilized by the state government, but its usage is limited to Panchkula to Ambala. Similarly, there are small airports in Haryana, such as Karnal, Bhiwani, Narnaul, and Sirsa, which are benefiting the citizens. Divulging the details regarding infrastructure development, the Chief Minister lauded the approval of the Karnal to Yamunanagar rail line and the sanctioning of new national highways in Haryana by the Central government, with projects worth approximately Rs. 50,000-60,000 crore. At the inaugural ceremony of Ambala Airport, Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma, Home Minister Anil Vij, and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala were also present.
