In a bid to blend sustainability and development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared on Saturday that the TDP led NDA government is focused on creating “wealth out of waste.” The public address in Kakinada district, in Peddapuram, was part of the Swarnandhra-Swachandhra initiative of the Chief Minister. He determined that household trash should not be considered a burden but a resource. The main pillars of this would be composting at home, recycling e-waste and phasing out single-use plastics, he said.
Waste to Energy Project Announced
Seeing through Naidu’s vision for his government into the future, he unveiled plans for a 15 MW waste to energy plant at Peddapuram.

The project, which was pegged at ₹330 crore, will convert the waste from all Kakinada district municipalities into electricity. “Within 18 months, this plant will be operational, proving that even waste can light up our homes,” assured Naidu to the residents.
Health Infrastructure Dedicates
Beyond even more facilities for waste management, Naidu would invest great sums of money into the healthcare and public welfare sectors. He then announced the development of a 100-bed hospital at Peddapuram, while sanctioning ₹75 crore for drinking water facilities to both Peddapuram and Samarlakota. In line with public health, he announced that drones were expected for use in mosquito eradication, countering diseases like dengue and chikungunya.

Responding to earlier criticism of his electoral promises, Naidu threw in lights of Super Six benefits his government has brought to bear. Noted more than one crore women benefitted from the ‘Stree Shakti’ free bus travel programme while further schemes supporting farmers and school children have been rolled out. “Everyone is saying Super Six is a super hit,” he remarked, underscoring that his administration is focused on inclusive growth and redistribution of resources.
Hitting Out at Opposition and Future Vision
Targeting even his attack on the opposition leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu accused the YSRCP of misleading propaganda on Amaravati-related developments. He promised that Amaravati will be developed into a world class city and that he would complete the irrigation project of Polavaram by 2027. He also unveiled Swachandhra Awards to be announced on October 2, which will honor excellence in 16 categories in cleanliness and sustainability.
Looking in the future, Naidu called upon the citizens to join hands in transforming Andhra Pradesh into “Swarna Andhra Pradesh” by 2047, making it India’s top-performing state.
