CM Dhami Pays Tribute to 1971 War Martyrs, Announces Upcoming Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Tribute Ceremony’ on Vijay Diwas at Martyr Memorial Gandhi Park, Dehradun. During the event, CM Dhami expressed pride in the historic victory of the Indian Army in 1971, leading to the surrender of 93,000 Pakistani soldiers. He also announced the upcoming implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, stating that the state aims to lead the country in implementing this law.

Vijay Diwas marks the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war against Pakistan, resulting in the creation of Bangladesh. On this day, various events and ceremonies are held across the country to honour the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought in the war.

In addition to Uttarakhand, soldiers and military officials from various states, including Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal, paid tributes to the fallen heroes of the 1971 war on Vijay Diwas. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with other top military officials, also paid respects at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
