CM Chandrashekhar asks voters to carefully scrutinise candidates

In a recent gathering at Burgampadu, BRS Supremo and Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao delivered a comprehensive address, touching upon various crucial aspects ahead of the upcoming Telangana elections scheduled for 30 November.

The Chief Minister began by emphasising the importance of political maturity among Indian citizens during elections, pointing out that the real dynamics unfold after the announcement of poll results. He urged voters to scrutinise candidates, considering their quality, party history, attitude, and behaviour, stressing the responsibility of casting votes wisely for the greater benefit of the community.

Chandrashekhar Rao then delved into the historical context, highlighting the pivotal role played by BRS in achieving Telangana’s separate statehood. He expressed concern over the challenging living conditions of tribals and Dalits in Pinapaka and Bhadrachalam areas, holding discussions on who is responsible for their plight.

Turning to the achievements of the government, the Chief Minister cited efforts to reduce farmer debts and suicides. He proudly mentioned groundbreaking schemes like Rythu Bandhu, designed for agricultural stabilisation. The introduction of Dharani to safeguard farmers’ land rights was also a key point, with the Chief Minister asserting that land transfers would now require farmers’ consent.

In the face of opposition criticism, particularly from leaders like Bhatti Vikramarka and Rahul Gandhi, who opposed the Dharani initiative, Chandrashekhar Rao defended the program, stating that scrapping it would adversely affect farmers. He questioned the opposition’s understanding of agriculture and warned against the resurgence of a broker system if the opposition were to come to power.

The Chief Minister further discussed the state’s progress, moving from 18th to the top position in per capita income in India. He highlighted the government’s commitment to wealth distribution, specifically benefiting farmers, the poor, and pension beneficiaries.

Infrastructure and welfare projects were also a focal point, with Chandrashekhar Rao discussing the successful implementation of initiatives such as supplying drinking water to 16 mandals from Dummugudem and the upcoming completion of the Sitarama project, which promises to provide 37 TMCs of water to the drought-prone region.

In addressing social welfare programs, the Chief Minister touched upon the distribution of Podu lands, removal of cases, and initiatives like Rythu Bima. He described improvements in medical facilities, construction of bridges, and humanitarian programs benefiting pregnant women and marginalised communities.

Looking toward the future, Chandrashekhar Rao pledged to implement Dalit Bandhu as a pilot project in two constituencies, addressing the specific issues faced by Dalit communities. The Chief Minister concluded by acknowledging the political support from key figures and leaders who participated in the event, reflecting a united front in support of BRS and its initiatives.
