The Delhi Traffic Police has enforced immediate traffic regulations in South Delhi’s Saket area due to Christmas celebrations at major malls. The restrictions, affecting Press Enclave Road and internal routes, are active from 2 PM today, December 24, and will remain in place at the same time on Christmas Day.

The advisory aims to manage expected congestion from shoppers and revellers at Select City Mall, DLF Avenue Mall, and MGF Metropolitan Court Mall. This proactive, time-bound rule demonstrates a focused strategy for preserving mobility in a crucial business area during the busiest holiday times.

Which Roads Are Affected by the Christmas Traffic Advisory?

The restrictions are concentrated around the mall complex in Saket. Commuters should expect significant delays and should avoid these stretches if possible between 2 PM and late evening on both days.

Primary Affected Road: Press Enclave Road.

Additional Areas: All internal roads of Saket and Pushp Vihar.

Key Closures: All median cuts from Sheikh Sarai to Hauz Rani have been closed.

  • Sheikh Sarai Red Light on LBS Marg.
  • Asian Market Red Light on MB Road (Mehrauli-Badarpur Road).
  • PTS Malviya Nagar Red Light on Sri Aurobindo Marg.

What Specific Vehicle Restrictions Are in Place?

Beyond diversions, specific bans are imposed to reduce volume on critical stretches.

Buses & Heavy trucks: Press Enclave Road is off-limits to DTC/Cluster buses and other heavy goods trucks.

Bus Route Alteration: No DTC/Cluster buses will be allowed to travel towards Pushp Vihar from the MB Road/Asian Market direction.

What Are the Suggested Alternate Routes?

The police have outlined two primary alternative circuits for through traffic:

For Chirag Delhi to Qutub Minar/MG Road: Use the route via Khanpur T-Point → MB Road → Lado Sarai.

For IIT Flyover to Sangam Vihar/Sainik Farm: Take the route past TB Hospital → Lado Sarai → MB Road → Chirag Delhi → Khanpur.

The Delhi Traffic Police has urged all commuters to plan their travel in advance, avoid the affected stretches around Saket, and strictly follow the directions of traffic staff on site. The regulations are a precise, location-specific intervention for a 48-hour period to ensure safety and minimal disruption during the festive gatherings.
