In a shocking turn of events, Mumbai Police have revealed that the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was orchestrated through Instagram and Snapchat. The conspiracy, which began three months ago, involved meticulous planning and multiple visits to Siddique’s residence, as the shooters carried out reconnaissance without weapons.
Mumbai Crime Branch confirmed that the entire planning was done in Pune, with four people arrested so far, including Gurmail Baljit Singh, Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, and Pravin Lonkar. The accused communicated via Snapchat and Instagram, using these platforms to coordinate every move. Two absconding suspects, including one linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, remain at large.
According to the police, the shooters learned to fire weapons by watching YouTube tutorials. A photo of Baba Siddique was given to them, marking him as the target. The accused recced the area surrounding his house and office 25 days prior to the fatal attack.
The fourth arrested suspect, Harishkumar Nisad, acted as the middleman, providing money and weapons to the shooters. The ₹2 lakh payment and two mobile phones were essential in executing the plot.
Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s MLA office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area on October 12. As police continue their investigation, the nation is left stunned by how social media apps played a crucial role in this high-profile assassination.
