Charkhi Dadri Unrest: Police Increase Security After Death of West Bengal Migrant Worker

Following the alleged beating death of a migrant worker from West Bengal in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district—suspected to be over claims that he consumed beef—the police have heightened security in the area to prevent further unrest.

Badhra DSP Bharat Bhushan informed that both SSB and state police forces have been deployed, and authorities are monitoring social media closely. “The victim, from North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, was a ragpicker here. We have a company of SSB and state police in place, and we are keeping a close watch on social media,” Bhushan said.

Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder. On August 27, reports emerged that prohibited meat was being consumed in the slums of Hansawas Khurd village. Authorities have sent a meat sample to an FSL lab, and further actions will depend on the lab results. Meanwhile, suspects reportedly kidnapped and assaulted two individuals, leading to one death and one injury.

The police acted swiftly, arresting seven suspects, including Abhishek, Ravinder, Mohit, Kamaljeet, Sahil, and two minors. Three suspects are in judicial custody, while four remain in police remand. The police are conducting interrogations and may make additional arrests based on the investigation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dheeraj Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “Seven people, including two juveniles, have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing, and the accused are being questioned while in remand,” DSP Kumar said.
