A local court has issued notices to the Punjab government regarding an application submitted by former Moga Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Charanjit Sharma. The application seeks to adjourn the hearing of the Behbal Kalan firing case until the completion of further investigation.
Sharma’s application is based on the claim that the investigating agency has not provided final investigation reports as directed by the High Court in previous writ petitions. He argued that the prosecution is pushing for arguments on the charges based on earlier chargesheets, despite the ongoing further investigation.
On May 31, the High Court ordered the transfer of the trial from a Faridkot court to Chandigarh following a plea by Sharma.
