Centre Transfers Chirag Paswan’s ‘Z Category’ Security from SSB to CRPF

The Central government has officially transferred Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s ‘Z category’ security from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Chirag Paswan, who serves as the Union Minister of Food Processing and Industries, will see his security provided by the CRPF in the coming days, according to sources familiar with the situation. Previously, the SSB managed his security detail.

The decision by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to make this change was prompted by a recent threat analysis report from the Intelligence Bureau. Sources indicate that the CRPF was informed of this development last week through an official written order.

With this new arrangement, Chirag will receive Z category security across India, expanding the coverage which was previously limited to Bihar.

In January of this year, the MHA granted Chirag ‘Z’ category security through the SSB, following his campaign efforts for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates during assembly bypolls in Mokama, Gopalganj, and Kurhani, where the BJP secured victories in two out of three contests despite a strong opposition from the Grand Alliance.
