An inspector working in the postal department’s North Division in Varanasi Cantt, identified as Mandeep Kumar, has been apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on bribery charges.
The CBI initiated legal action against the accused following accusations that he demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the complainant’s return to their original place of posting.
Acting on this information, the CBI set up a trap and caught the inspector red-handed while accepting the bribe. The accused, Mandeep Kumar, has been arrested and is set to appear before the appropriate court.
In addition to the arrest, authorities conducted searches at the residential premises of Mandeep Kumar in Varanasi as part of the ongoing investigation.
