Haryana police arrested a married businessman, Upkar, for killing his live-in partner, Sarita, in Sonipat. He stabbed her and set her body on fire after a domestic argument. The crime happened on October 25 in their home at Rishi Colony, Civil Lines.
Upkar attempted to hide the murder by burning the house to make it look like a fire accident. Forensic tests revealed Sarita was stabbed before the fire, leading to Upkar’s arrest. Police also confirmed that Sarita had been living with Upkar for six years after divorcing her husband.
Sarita’s brother, Trishla, filed a complaint that uncovered the truth. He revealed that Sarita had informed him about Upkar’s frequent demands for money. On October 25, she called her brother and said Upkar was trying to strangle her. The call disconnected suddenly.
Later that night, Trishla was told about a fire at Sarita’s house, where she died. Police investigations revealed the fire was deliberately set after the murder.
A court granted police two days of custody to question Upkar and visit the crime scene. Authorities aim to uncover further details about the crime and its motives.
