A 3-storey building in Transport Nagar area of Lucknow collapsed on Saturday afternoon killing one and leaving around ten people feared trapped. The incident occurred at around 5 pm when work was underway in its basement. The Harmilap Building houses pharmaceutical storage facilities. Thirteen people were injured and admitted to hospital.
Rescue work has started there, along with local police and firemen, and teams of National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force. The Relief Commissioner, GS Naveen Kumar said, “Teams from the NDRF and SDRF have been deployed to the spot, which are trying to rescue the stranded individuals.”
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued directives to the district officials for accelerating the relief work, and managing treatment for the injured people without delay. “UP CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the building collapse incident in Transport Nagar, Lucknow,” his office posted on X. The Chief Minister directed that the district administration officials, SDRF, and NDRF team rush to the site and expedite the relief work while ensuring that the injured are taken to the hospital immediately for proper treatment. He also wished for the early recovery of the injured.
