Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly Mann Ki Baat address, urged Indians to build a nation that the makers of the Constitution would be proud of. Marking the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, Modi paid tribute to leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Rajendra Prasad, and Syama Prasad Mookerjee, whose contributions laid the foundation of India’s democracy.
Modi emphasized, “We, the citizens of the country, taking inspiration from these thoughts, have to work towards building such an India that even the makers of our Constitution would be proud of.”
Ahead of National Voters’ Day on January 25, the PM lauded the Election Commission of India (ECI) for modernizing the electoral process. “The Election Commission has used technology to empower voters and ensure fair elections. India, the Mother of Democracy, has proved sceptics wrong by strengthening democratic values,” he said.
He also urged citizens to vote in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of participation in democracy.
Modi highlighted the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj as a symbol of India’s unity in diversity. “This festival of Kumbh celebrates equality and harmony. People from all over India and the world congregate on the sands of the Sangam,” he noted.
He also referred to similar traditions in Southern India along rivers like Godavari and Krishna, underlining the unity of India’s diverse cultural practices.
The PM celebrated India’s progress in space exploration, particularly private-sector contributions. He mentioned the Bengaluru-based startup Pixxel, which has made significant advancements in space technology.
He also highlighted the success of ISRO’s satellite docking experiment, positioning India as the fourth nation to achieve this feat. “This success opens avenues for innovations like growing vegetables in space,” Modi remarked.
Modi paid tribute to Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. He recalled Bose’s inspiring role in the freedom movement and urged the youth to learn about his life.
Modi also celebrated the addition of two new tiger reserves in India—Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla in Chhattisgarh and Ratapani in Madhya Pradesh—underscoring India’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
The Maha Kumbh, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26.
