The Border Security Force (BSF) reported shooting down a Pakistani drone laden with narcotics near the International Border close to Punjab’s Amritsar, according to a statement released on Sunday.
BSF troops stationed in the vicinity of Dhanoe Kalan village in Amritsar district detected the sound of a suspected Pakistani drone at about 8.48 pm on Saturday. The troops promptly intercepted and successfully downed the drone, as per established procedure, the statement read. In the preliminary search of the area, the BSF recovered a quadcopter drone (DJI Matrice 300 RTK) along with three packets of suspected narcotics attached to the drone via an iron ring. The items were discovered in the farmlands of Dhanoe Kalan village.
The BSF further noted the discovery of four luminous strips attached to the narcotics consignment, presumably intended to facilitate the smugglers’ detection of the payload. The total weight of the suspected heroin seized was approximately 3.3 kg.
