BRS to File Breach of Assembly Notice Against Telangana Finance Minister

The opposition party in Telangana, Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), will file a breach of assembly notice against Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday. The party accuses him of spreading false information about the state’s debt.

RBI Report Contradicts Minister’s Claims

KTR, the former minister and working president of BRS, referred to a report from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on X. The report revealed that Telangana’s debt grew from Rs 72,658 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 3,89,673 crore by March 2024.

KTR pointed out that this sharp rise contradicts the Finance Minister’s claims of effectively managing the state’s debt. “We will move a privilege motion against the Congress government for misleading both the legislature and the people of Telangana. They claimed the total debt was 7 lakh crore, but the RBI report clearly shows it’s only 3.89 lakh crore,” KTR stated.

KTR Accuses Minister of Misleading the Public

KTR also criticized the Finance Minister for spreading false information. He said this tarnished the reputation of the previous BRS government. KTR emphasized that the misleading statements were meant to deceive the public about the state’s financial situation. “The RBI report proves that the Finance Minister’s speech on debt is completely untrue,” KTR added.

BRS Moves to File Breach Notice

In response, KTR confirmed that BRS would file a breach of assembly notice against the Finance Minister. This will be done under Rule 168 (1) of the Telangana Legislative Assembly Rules. The motion aims to hold the minister accountable for his actions.

KTR Criticizes Telangana Government’s Tourism Policy

In a separate post, KTR criticized the Telangana government’s proposed “Tourism Policy.”

He highlighted areas where the opposition Congress government had made little progress. “As the Telangana assembly discusses the ‘Tourism Policy,’ the Congress government has achieved minimal progress. The CM and ministers made over 100 trips under Delhi Tourism, and 40 Kodangal farmers, along with actors and social media warriors, were jailed,” KTR wrote.
