Bomb Threat Emails Sent To Several Delhi Hospitals, Authorities On High Alert

On Tuesday, several prominent hospitals in Delhi, including AIIMS and Safdarjung, along with a mall, received alarming bomb threat emails, triggering immediate action from authorities. According to officials, searches were swiftly launched across the threatened locations.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reported that the first call came at 1:04 p.m. from a hospital in Nangloi, followed by another from Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri at 1:07 p.m., both indicating they had received bomb threats. Fire tenders, bomb detection teams, and police were dispatched to the sites to conduct thorough checks.

The threatening email, sent via Gmail at 12:04 p.m., claimed that bombs had been placed in black backpacks within the targeted buildings. The email stated, “We have placed many explosives inside your building… The bombs are set to go off in a few hours,” and added a menacing warning that everyone inside the buildings would lose their lives. The email was signed by a group calling itself ‘COURT,’ and demanded that its name be publicized by news outlets.

The email’s recipients included around 50 government and private hospitals across the city, including well-known institutions like Apollo, Moolchand, Max, and Sir Ganga Ram hospitals.

A police officer noted that the pattern of this threat email bore similarities to previous threats sent to schools, universities, and other government buildings, where no specific timeline was provided. In a related incident, a similar bomb threat was reported at Canakya Mall in central Delhi. The mall was also thoroughly searched, but nothing suspicious was found.

While some of the hospitals have already been cleared, searches continue at other locations to ensure safety. The authorities are treating the situation with utmost seriousness, although no explosive devices have been discovered so far.
