The body of a missing youth from jammu and Kashmir’s Uri has been recovered from River Jhelum in Chakoti village in Muzaffarabad Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)
The body of a boy was seen floating in the River Jhelum in Uri, before being swept away across the LoC on Thursday.
An official told that a body was seen in Jhelum River near Kaman Post along the LoC in the afternoon. “Police and other rescue teams attempted to retrieve it, however due to the strong currents it flowed to the other side of the border,” he said.
The official added that the body is likely of a boy who had jumped into the river on March 5 along with a girl in Dulanja area of Uri.
Official told that on March 5, Yasir Hussain and Asiya Bano, daughter of Mohabat Khan from Kundi Barjala, allegedly jumped into River Jhelum from Dulanja Uri near the Line of Control (LoC). The incident, believed to be a case of suicide, triggered a massive five-day search operation by the Jammu and Kashmir polices’s SDRF. However, both individuals remain missing as of now as their bodies are yet to be recovered.
Dead Body Recovered in PoK
On March 20, Pakistani media and local authorities in PoK reported that an unidentified body near the Jhelum River in Chinari was recovered. The body was subsequently shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Hattian Bala, Jhelum Valley, for identification. After verification, Inspector SHO of Chinari Police Station Raja Yasir Ali Khan confirmed that the dead body recovered from Chinari is that of a 22-year-old youth named Yasir Hussain, Who was swept away in the Jhelum River from Uri (Dulanja) area of Uri and reached PoK Chinari
In PoK Police sources have told that if the relatives of the deceased youth contact from Kashmir (Uri) for the handover of the dead body, immediate steps will be taken to send the body back to Kashmir via Chakothi PoK
