BJP woos auto drivers

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Monday addressed a gathering of over 1,000 auto drivers from West and Central Delhi at the party’s state office. The drivers extended their support to the BJP ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, highlighting their discontent with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s unfulfilled promises over the past decade.
Sachdeva flagged off a large rally of auto drivers from the state office, joined by prominent leaders such as auto union representatives Rajendra Soni, Vinod Bhatia, and Suraj Vaidh. Delhi BJP Vice President Rajkumar Bhatia and Municipal Councillor Sandeep Kapoor were also present.
Separately, a delegation of industrialists from Badli, Bawana, and Narela, under the Laghu Udyog Bharti banner, met Sachdeva to express gratitude for resolving long-standing factory license issues. Delhi BJP Spokesperson Dr. Anil Gupta, Laghu Udyog Bharti President Diwanchand Gupta, and leaders Mukesh Kumar and Anil Kumar were present during this interaction.
Addressing the auto drivers, Sachdeva highlighted their critical role in Delhi’s ecosystem, noting that they connect every corner of the city and often hear citizens’ concerns, but their own issues remain ignored.
He accused Arvind Kejriwal of betraying auto drivers over the past decade by failing to deliver on promises like constructing hundreds of auto stands, curbing vehicle seizures, and reducing bribery in the transport department.
Sachdeva further claimed that under the Kejriwal government, corruption in the transport department has worsened. He also took a dig at Kejriwal’s earlier promise to jail auto agents, saying, “Kejriwal himself landed in jail as a liquor scam agent.”
As elections approach, Sachdeva stated that Kejriwal has started making fresh promises, but auto drivers are demanding accountability for the last ten years of unmet commitments. The BJP, he assured, is committed to addressing their challenges and improving their livelihoods if elected to power.
