Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday, alleging their aim is to abolish reservation for Dalits, tribals, and backward classes. Speaking on ‘X’, Kharge highlighted statements from top RSS-BJP leaders advocating an end to reservation.
Kharge cited the issue of vacant government jobs, suggesting that instead of filling these positions, the government has favored privatization and contractual employment. He noted that over the past decade, 30 lakh government positions have remained unfilled, potentially benefiting SC, ST, and OBC communities if filled. However, Kharge accused the BJP government of promoting contractual and temporary roles over permanent appointments.
Furthermore, Kharge alleged a conspiracy to eliminate reservation in government colleges, emphasizing the BJP-RSS’s purported intention to amend the Constitution and abolish the reservation system altogether.
Asserting the significance of Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution, Kharge urged against the erosion of these rights, including the right to vote, equality, and reservation. He questioned whether people want these rights to be revoked, underlining their importance.
In conclusion, Kharge urged voters not to support the BJP, cautioning against empowering a government that prioritizes its own interests over the welfare of citizens.
