The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has established a power balance across OBC, General, and SC categories, with the ST community expected to play a significant role soon. Adivasi legislators are anticipated to secure positions in the cabinet.
Post the assembly elections; the BJP has shifted its focus to the Lok Sabha, evident in the emerging names for Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Assembly Speaker positions in Madhya Pradesh. The party’s trajectory suggests that more surprising changes may unfold in the future.
The BJP, known for its unexpected decisions, has raised eyebrows again by selecting Mohan Yadav as the leader of the legislative party. This move aims to create a power balance among different castes. While Mohan Yadav represents the OBC category, Rajendra Shukla and Narendra Singh Tomar belong to the General category, with Shukla being from the Brahmin caste and Tomar from the Thakur caste. Jagdish Dewda hails from the SC category, covering three main categories. The party is anticipated to appoint a prominent figure from the ST category for a significant responsibility.
In Rajasthan, the names under consideration included Vasundhara Raje, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kumar Deependra Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Rajyavardhan Rathore. Madhya Pradesh witnessed discussions around Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, and Jyotiraditya Scindia. In Chhattisgarh, names like Dr. Raman Singh, Arun Saw, Ram Vichar Netam, Renuka Singh, and Gomti Sai were part of discussions.
The subsequent leadership selections in these states resembled a political surgical strike. In Chhattisgarh, Vishnudev Sai was appointed as the leader of the legislative party, and Arun Saw, along with Vijay Sharma, was appointed as the deputy Chief Minister. In Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav emerged as the Chief Minister.
While the Chief Minister, Deputy CM, and Assembly Speaker positions have been decided in some regions, cabinet participation in Mahakoshal, Bundelkhand, and Nimar is pending. It is expected that the remaining major castes and regions will be accommodated in the cabinet, which is likely to have around 35 ministers, including the Chief Minister. The distribution of representation among castes and categories remains to be officially announced.
